1,010,213. Umbrellas. A. KORTENBACH, H. J. WORRING, T. SCHULTES, F. WORRING, K. KORTENBACH, and D. WOKKING. Fe b . 27, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 7958/63. Heading A4P. [Also in Division F2] A catch, for retaining the telescopic stick parts 1, 2 of an umbrella in extended position, comprises balls 4 urged by a spring 3 to engage in apertures in the stick parts, the spring being bent to V-shape from spring wire and an eyelet 3a formed at each end of the wire to engage one of the balls. In a modification the spring is coiled at 3b to increase the spring force. A locking plunger 5 on a leaf spring 6, which is retained in the stick part 1 by a clamping member 7, bears against the edge of an aperture in a pressed in rib in the outer stick part 2 to prevent separation of the parts of the stick until the plunger is pressed inwards.
