Abstract

948,465. Loose-leaf binders. BENSONS TOOL WORKS Ltd. March 21, 1961 [Sept. , 28, 1960], No. 33223/60. Heading B6E. A loose-leaf binder includes a sheet-retaining post of plastics material having a fastener adapted to engage the outer end of the post and a flexible strip connecting the fastener to the base of the post. The strip 3 is formed integrally with a collar 4 on the base of the post 1 and its outer end is shaped to form a thumbpiece 6 having a peg 5 projecting therefrom, said peg being adapted to engage a recess 2 in the post. The thumb-piece may have the same diameter as the post whereby looseleaves filed thereon may pass from the post on to the strip. Alternatively, the strip has a peg extending in the direction of the strip, Fig. 6 (not shown). Further the post may be curved to facilitate the passing of the looseleaves from the post on to the strip. In another embodiment, the strip is formed with an aperture at its outer end, which is passed over the outer end of a post, said outer end being knob-shaped. The post is attached to the stub portion of a cover, the end-piece 1a being passed through an aperture in the stub and spread over to form a rivet head by means of a heated die (the end-piece 1a being welded to the cover if the latter is of plastics material), or secured by means of a metal washer pressed thereon. Alternatively, the post is secured in position by a stud passing through apertures in the stub and the base of the post.
