Abstract

907,606. Hair clips. WAGGENER, F. S. March 13, 1961, No. 9022/61. Class 131. [Also in Group XXV] A metal or plastic hair clip comprises a baseplate 1, slotted at 2 and having upturned ends 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>, and a resilient strip 5 having an upturned end 5<SP>11</SP> and an arched part 7 which are passed from below through the slot 2, the end 5<SP>11</SP> being secured to the end 1<SP>1</SP>, and a straight part 5<SP>1</SP> which remains below the plate to form therewith jaws movable in parallelism to engage and apply even clamping pressure to a coiled tress of hair. The end 5<SP>11</SP> is welded or riveted in a recess 3, the arched part 7 forms a handle, and projections 6 prevent the straight part 5<SP>1</SP> from passing through the slot. In a modification, shown in Fig. 9, the upturned end 9 is clamped over the end of the base-plate and the straight part is folded at 8 to prevent passage through the slot. In further modifications, the straight part is bifurcated and the clip is bent up from a blank, the base-plate and resilient strip being integral.
