Abstract

905,634. Hair curling appliances. SOLOMON, N. L. Jan. 5, 1960 [Jan. 8, 1959], No. 294/60. Class 131. [Also in Group XXV] A hair curler comprises an elongated body 11 on which a tress of hair is wound, an axially rotatable plug 28 engaged in one end of the body, and a U-section resilient clip 23 having elongated apertures 34, 36 in which pivot pins 24, 26 projecting from the exposed end of the plug are adjustable so that the clip is parallel to the axis of the body irrespective of the thickness of the wound tress. The plug 28 has an annular projection 31 engaging a groove 30 in the body which has hair-retaining projections 14. The projections 14 may be spaced along the sides of the apertures 12 and a resilient apertured clamp 16 may be applied over the first coil of hair. In modifications, the clamp 16 has a flange at one end for hair-retention or consists of a thin metallic strip pivoted on the body at the end opposite to the pivotal connection of the clip which, as shown in Fig. 6, consists of pins 59, projecting inward from the clip and engaged in a T-slot 56 in a plug 55 before the plug is engaged in the body, or wherein as shown in Fig. 7, a pin 81 forming part of an end-plate 84 of the clip 83 is engaged in a slot or slots in the end of the plug.
