Abstract
620,345. Hair-curling appliances. DEHN, S. G. (Gaylord Products, Inc.). Jan. 10, 1947, No. 904. [Class 131] A hair curler comprises a hair-confining arm 44 journalled on a rotatable member 36 which forms two hair-engaging fingers 37, 38 and which is formed with a resilient finger 53 for engagement in an annular groove 51 in the arm to prevent axial displacement of the arm and the member and a second resilient finger 49 for step-by-step engagement with notches 45 formed in the bearing surface 47 of the arm. In use the end of a strand of hair inserted between the fingers 37, 38 is gripped by the clamping arm 57 of a spring member 56 and the member 36 rotated by the turning knobs 41. When the curler is close to the head the hair confining arm 44 is rotated to rest against the head. The resilient finger 49 prevents unwinding of the curl but, if desired, the curl may be clamped by a bob pin and the curler removed.
