Abstract
1352084 Particle spectrometers MAXPLANCK-GES ZUR FORDERUNG DER WISSENSCHAFTEN eV 21 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971] 3073/72 Heading H1D A particle spectrometer, particularly for electrons, comprises a source 18, a detector 20 and a perforated electrode 10 which is convex in relation to the source, defining a solid angle into which particles are emitted and co-operating with a second perforated electrode 12 to cause the particles to converge towards the detector 20, the potentials on the two electrodes producing an accelerating field, and a diaphragm 16 which prevents direct passage of particles from the source to the detector. A decelerating field may be provided by electrodes 22, 24 and a fieldfree region established by a surrounding electrode 26 connected to both electrodes 24 and 10. The electrode 10 can have non-circular curvature and can also be cylindrical (Fig. 6, not shown). The electrode 12 can take any form but is conveniently similar to electrode 10.
