Abstract

1351893 High voltage switches; vacuum switches; switchgear structures JOSLYN MGF & SUPPLY CO 20 March 1972 [29 April 1971] 13006/72 Heading H1N A high voltage switch assembly, e.g. for use in ring mains or T-feeder junctions comprises a tank 55C containing vacuum, oil or gas other than air, plural contact pairs 12, 11a, 11b, 11c in the tank, plural operating rods 24 at least partly insulating and arranged so as to permit the moving of a moving contact 11a. . . 11c irrespective of the position or movement of any other moving contact, an internal common electrical connection 4 for the moving contacts, and shielding means 27 surrounding the respective pairs of contacts, thes means being electrically isolated from one another. In the vacuum switch assembly shown, the operating rods 24 are provided with individual sealing bellows and are connected by universal joints to the moving contacts so that when one rod is moved, the connection 4 functions as a wobble plate and pivots about the joints at the other two contacts.
