Abstract

1349851 Banding bales PATTERSON'S VENTURE Ltd and P A TAYLOR-HAWKINS 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970 21 May 1970 30 March 1971] 7398/70 24600/70 and 8149/71 Headings B8C and B8E A bander includes a platform 12 on which bales of hay, wool or fertilizer can be loaded, means to pivot the platform to deposit the bales on a support 11, and banding means to band the bales on the support. The bander may be connected to a tractor and include means (21-23) to push a number of bales up ramp 24 on to the platform. Alternatively the bales may be pushed individually on to the platform or loaded by hand. Spring-urged rail 33 pushes the bales against a plate 32 which as the platform pivots is acted on by cam 39 to lift the stack of bales on to the support 11. One or more stacks of bales may be banded together. The banding means may include on a piston of an hydraulic jack a clamp for the two ends of a band, the ends extending around pulleys on respectively the piston and cylinder of the jack so that the band can be tensioned. The rear surface of support 11 may have friction boards, which may be adjustable, or steel angles, to provide back pressure for stacks lifted on to the support.
