Abstract

1348983 Safety caps QUARTZ INVESTMENTS Ltd 4 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 23515/70 Heading B8T A container 1 is provided with a protective wall 12, and has a mouth defined by a lip 3 bearing a flange 4. A domed metal or plastics cap 5 is provided with a plurality of fingers 6 each having a claw 8 which can grip the underside of the flange 4 to close the container. To open, a knob 9 on the cap 5 is pushed downwards which causes the fingers 6 to move to the position shown in broken lines with a "snap" action. The cap can then be raised from the container by gripping the knob 9. Alternatively, for this purpose the knob 9 could be replaced by a weak helical spring inside the container bearing against the underside of the cap 5, and a sealing disc 11 may be employed. The container may be of metal, plastics, ceramics or glass.
