Abstract

1348080 Containers; container closures PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING Ltd 29 Dec 1972 [31 Dec 1971] 60131/72 Headings B8P and B8T A container comprises a sleeve 12 of polygonal section closed at at least one end by a cap 14 having sloping carrier guides 42 which extend beyond a peripheral rim 32-35 of the cap to guide the end of the sleeve into a peripheral groove 38 in the cap during assembly of the end cap with the sleeve. The end cap may have outwardly curved sides and the groove 38 extends along the rim 32-35 to cause outward bowing of the sleeve panels. The groove 38 is defined between the rim 32-35 and rounded ribs 40 extending between the corner guides 42. A cap forming the top closure of the container may include dispensing apertures (52, Fig. 8) or an integral hinged lid (Figs. 13, 14), or it may have a hinged lid (Figs. 11 and 12) or a rotatable control disc having one aperture spaced from a group of smaller apertures which can be aligned with an aperture in the end cap (Figs. 9, 10), mounted thereon by studs engaging in openings in the cap. One end cap of each container may include a rib and the other end cap may include a mating groove so that similar containers can be stacked. The sleeve can be folded flat before attachment of the end cap(s) and is formed by extrusion (Figs. 1-4) or by folding a blank. The container may include a transparent window in one or more of the sleeve panels or over one end of the sleeve. The container may comprise two telescoping sleeves with one end cap each.
