1345526 Bird exercising device J ORR 22 Nov 1971 [21 Nov 1970] 55450/70 Heading AIM A feeding device encourages a bird to exercise by allowing it only a small amount of food when it alights on a perch 26a and discharging more only if it leaves the perch and re-alights. Feed 14 is held in hopper 11 and jams in the normally open aperture 13; falling to feeding table 19 only when disturbed by agitator 25 moving in bore 24. Lever 26 hinges at 29 and moves the agitator 25 up when a bird alights on the perch 26a causing some feed to fall to table 19 and the agitator remains fully up, blocking the aperture 13 as long as the bird remains on the perch. The bird is discouraged from remaining on the perch when it has eaten the food by being kept in an unbalanced position by a shield 18, in which a feed opening 22 is formed. The lever 26 is normally biassed to a position in which the agitator 25 is down.
