A livestock feeding device comprises a container 1 receiving foodstuff from an overhead food delivery trough 27 and having a pivoted bottom closing member 4 biased to the closed position by means of a weight 6 and held there by a catch 9 provided with a tail 13 for co-operation with the armature 14 of a solenoid 15 connected to a timing device whereby the member 4 may be released to permit discharge of foodstuff from the container at predetermined times. Foodstuff is fed to container 1 through an opening 19 in trough 27 and a conduit comprising telescopic tubes 17, 18, the tube 17 having graduation markings 21 so that by aligning the top edge 22 of the tube 18 with a selected marking 21 the amount of foodstuff delivered to the container 1 may be varied. The conduit is carried by a plate 24 having hooks 25 for attachment to the trough, the hooks abutting stops 28 to open the opening 19 and abutting stops 29 to permit closure of opening 19 by plate 24. Foodstuff is delivered to trough 27 from a main food container and is moved along the trough by a travelling conveyer 36.
