Abstract

1344670 Pocket knives STANLEY TOOLS Ltd 26 July 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 57297/71 Heading B4B A pocket knife comprises a handle 21 and a replaceable, spring-biased folding blade 22 which may be pivoted between an operative position and a storage position. The handle 21 comprises two facing portions 24, 25 detachably held together, and the blade 22 is held on a projection 29a of a rotatable disc 29 by a tongue 44 of a latch member 30 urged towards the disc 29 by a compression spring 35. An inclined surface 33 of the latch member 30 may engage an inclined surface 34 of the disc 29 in the forward latch position to lock the blade 22 in operative position, and on retracting the latch 30 by means of a tab 31 the blade 22 may be pivoted to an inoperative position, Fig. 5 (not shown), between the portions 24, 25 of the handle. A spare blade 38 may be located, by means of a keyhole slot 43, on a boss 42 within the handle, the blade 38 being released by pivoting one part 25 of the handle relative to the other 24 after releasing a locking screw 27. A part 39 of the latch 30 acts against the blade 38 as a leaf spring to press it upwards when released, Fig. 7.
