Abstract

1344378 Electrostatic open end spindles ELECTROSPIN CORP 24 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 39520/71 Heading DID An open end spinning apparatus comprises a rotary spinning member 21 separated from a fibre advancing and opening device 10 by a gap across which an electrostatic field is maintained. The field is maintained between grounded drafting rolls 19 and 20, 20 having a sleeve 20b of dielectric material, and an annular cathode 40 surrounding a spinning tube 24 containing a yarn gripper 36. The field is focused by a funnel shaped extension 37 of the spindle 24 and a spherical cap 23 each made of dielectric material. Suitable ranges of dielectric constant are given.
