Abstract

134,112. Dempster, W. E. Dec. 20, 1918. Hasp fastenings.-A jewel - box or like fastening comprises a pair of plates 1, 4, Figs. 1 and 2, secured to the front faces of the box and lid, the plate 1 having a downwardly-disposed pressed-out lip 2, and the plate 4 having an upwardly-disposed pressed-out edge 5 provided with holes 6 to receive lugs 8 on, and form the hinge for, a movable member 7, the lower edge 9 of which is curled over to have a snap engagement with the lip 2. The hinged member 7 may be slightly concave, as shown, to make it resilient. In a modification, Figs. 11 and 13, the lips 5 and 2 are formed from projections at the edges of the plates 4, 1, and the member 7 is formed with a hook-shaped end 9 to engage the lip 2.
