Abstract

1341110 Metal treatment apparatus BLACKSTONE CORP 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21465/71 Heading C7D Apparatus for injecting additive materials into molten metal (e. g. Mg into cast iron) comprises two side-by-side parts within a housing and separated by a dividing wall, one of which is completely enclosed, the other having a door in the lower portion thereof through which a ladle of metal may be introduced, a vertically movable nozzle suspended in the part to which the ladle is to be introduced, means for raising and lowering the nozzle out of and into the ladle, and automatic delivery means located in the other part of the housing, for supplying a pre-selected amount of the material to be injected to the nozzle with an energizing source therefor. The ladle may be brought in on a carriage running on a trackway and exhaust gases from the treating part may be withdrawn by a fan and passed through a gas cleaner and outlet.
