Abstract

1339885 Valves H LINDLEY Ltd 18 Dec 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 56993/69 Heading F2V [Also in Division A5] An air release device, particularly for use in mines, comprise a valve 8 in communication with a pipe 19 for presenting air to a mouthpiece, not shown, and a low pressure air supply pipe 5, the valve 8 and pipe 19 being housed in an open box 7, the valve being opened by movement of the pipe 19 from the box to the position shown. The valve 8 comprises a generally frusto-conical male member 9 secured to pipe 5 by a hollow screw-threaded adapter 21 and branch 22, and a female member 10 having an internal bore receiving the member 9 and being spring biased thereon by a spring 11. The member 9 has a coaxial internal bore 15 in communication with pipe 5 and with a second bore 16 at right angles to the first. The member 10 has a hole 17 in communication with the pipe 19 to be selectively registered with bore 16, member 10 being rotatable about the member 9 through approx. 90 degrees from a position where the pipe 19 is in the box 7 to the position shown, the rotation being limited by a pin 24 running in a groove 23.
