Abstract

1339697 Sleeve couplings KABELUND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 10 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 21870/72 Heading H2E The solid-walled tubular outer conductors 1, 2 of two coaxial lines are interconnected by a metal sleeve 7 which is surrounded by a tube 10 of heat-shrinkable material, solder rings 11, 12 being provided adjacent the ends of sleeve 7, so that, on the application of heat, sleeve 7 is soldered to conductors 1, 2 and the tube 10 is shrunk down to seal the joint. Heat-resistant resin blocks 8, 9 are provided as shown. In a modification, Fig. 2, not shown, intermediate flanged sleeves (13, 14) are screw-threaded on to the ends of conductors 1, 2, and sleeve 7 is soldered to the flanges. The inner conductors 5, 6 of the coaxial lines may be interconnected by a conductive sleeve 17 in a heat-shrinkable sleeve 22, solder being provided in slots in sleeve 17 (as shown) or at the ends of the latter; alternatively sleeve 17 may be omitted, tube 22 containing only a solder insert. In the Fig. 2 embodiment, the inner conductors are interconnected by a metal sleeve (23) having internal screw-threads of opposite hands at its two ends, the sleeve being screwed on to both inner conductors simultaneously.
