Abstract
1409674 Cable joint RAYCHEM CORP 23 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 14207/73 Heading H2E To connect coaxial cables with minimal impedance discontinuity, outer conductors are soldered into ends of tube 10, under heat shrinking sleeves 11 and 50. Inner conductors are soldered into inner tube 40 by heat applied through apertures 25 and through transparent heat shrinking sleeve 42. Solder rings 12. 51, 43 are held in place under heat shrinking sleeves 11, 50, 42 and on melting reach soldering sites via apertures 13, 14, 15, 52, 53, 54, 41. After soldering and shrinking of sleeves, spring clip 20 is rotated, and located by dimples 21, 22 covers outer aperture 25. Recessed dielectric discs 28, 29 supporting inner tube 40 are made of material similar to the cable dielectric. Both outer tube 10 and inner tube 40 need not be fully closed tubes.
