Abstract
1339208 Stabilized propelled pontoon structures D HODGSON 17 Dec 1971 58884/71 Heading B7A Stabilized propelled pontoon structures 1 have transverse pontoon platforms 14, 10 fitted athwartshipwise at upper and lower levels. Each lower platform 10 is permanently tilted in the athwartship axis and has a lowered curved surface of increased incidence to that of its associated upper surface so as to achieve pontoon structure lift with forward motion. The upper level platforms 14 form a continuous upper deck supporting wave emitter members 5 and pneumatically operated rotary type propulsion units 4 are fitted to the lower level platforms 10 but any known propulsion units may be fitted. Each pontoon structure is capable of independent navigation and has airtight compartments filled with air or gas under pressure. Stabilizers 12 and 18 as described in Specification 1,153,461 are provided in the structures.
