Abstract

1336939 Portable bridges KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 19 April 1971 [11 April 1970] 26719/71 Heading E1G A portable bridge is composed of two sections 1, 2, Fig. 1, which can be automatically coupled end to end by swinging movement of one section in a vertical plane, the upper spans 5, Fig. 5, of the two sections being provided with horizontal bar and recess couplings 13-14, and the lower spans 6 being provided with male and female coupling members 8, 7 each in the form of a T-head and socket which may be tapered and shaped as shown to provide a dovetail interengagement 10, Fig. 7. The upper spans 5 may support a pair of crossconnected laterally-spaced roadway sections, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), each supported by a pair of lower spans 6. The bridge sections are superposed for transport, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown) on a tracked vehicle (15) provided with a pivotal telescopic boom (19-20-21-16) and lifting arm (23) whereby the sections (1, 2) can be manoevred and coupled end to end before off-loading.
