Abstract

1336734 Gas blast switches MAGRINI FABBRICHE RIUNITE MAGRINI SCARPA E MAGNANO MSM SpA 27 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 56507/70 Heading H1N An insulating blast nozzle surrounding, and movable with, the moving contact 3 of a compressed gas circuit-breaker has, internally, a convergent portion 1, a cylindrical portion 5 and a divergent portion 9, a plurality of tapered passages 6 extending from the cylindrical portion through the wall of the nozzle to reduce the pressure within the nozzle and the outside of the nozzle being formed (19) to overhang the outlets of the passage so as to deflect gases leaving by the passages in the direction of the main gas flow 7; the passages 6 extend at an acute angle, preferably between 45 and 65 degrees, to the main gas flow 7. The overhang 19 may be extended to the tip of the nozzle to form an annular passage or the individual passages may be extended to the tip. When the gases strike the overhang 19 they urge the nozzle to the right to assist the opening operation. The inside of portion 9 is formed with a plurality of annular corrugations.
