Abstract

1336670 Continuous rail track circuit GENERAL SIGNAL CORP 4 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 13098/71 Heading B7N A continuous-rail, alternating-current, track circuit comprises a shunt ST terminating the circuit at each of its ends, a transmitter 10 centre feeding the circuit, second and third transmitters 12 each feeding the circuit at one of its ends, a diode 13 at each end of the circuit for mixing the signal from the centre feed transmitter 10 and that from the adjacent transmitter 12 and a detector 11 at each end of the circuit tuned to respond to one of the beat signals produced by the mixer. As described the centre feed transmitter has an output signal of 200 Hz which can be shunted by a train in the mid portion R1 of the circuit and the end transmitters 12 have a frequency of 2 KHz and supply an output signal which can be shunted by a train in the end portion R2 of the circuit. Both signals must be present to produce the 1À8 KHz beat signal to which the detectors 11 respond.
