Abstract
1336284 Cartridge feed device RHEINSTAHL AG 4 May 1972 [7 May 1971] 20768/72 Heading F3C A cartridge feed and loading device for weapons comprises a fixed delivery passage 1 extending upwardly from a magazine and having ' adjacent its upper end a rotatable disc 6 having an aperture 10 for the passage of cartridges 4. Cartridges, in use, are urged along the passage 1 by an intermittently operated driver 3 and when in succession reach the upper end of the passage, they are urged into the aperture 10 of the disc 6 by an intermittently movable slide 5, the disc ' then being rotated to change the loaded cartridge 4 from the feeding position to a position in which the longitudinal axis of the cartridge is parallel to the axis of the gun with which the device is to be used. The cartridge 4 is then urged out of the aperture 10 by a further ' movement of the slide 5 whereupon the apertured disc 6, the slide, 5, and the driver 3 are then returned to their starting positions for a new cycle, the aforesaid disc 6, slide 5 and driver 3 being operated by a driving means. In the construction disclosed the driving means comprises a motor 20 having gears mounted on its shaft, the gears, which have gaps between sets of teeth to provide the intermittent movements, drive the disc 6, slide 5 and driver 3 through crank 33, 32, 34 and rod 36, 35, 37, couplings. The rod 36 comprises two telescopic spring- loaded parts so that the disc rotates only through the required angle to bring its aperture into correct alignment with the weapon even though the crank 33 is driven through 90 degrees. The feed position of the disc 6 and the position of the disc 6 when a cartridge is fed into the weapon are determined by a stop 6<SP>1</SP> on the disc 6 and a fixed stop (not shown) or a stop 18 on the weapon respectively.
