Abstract
1430057 Cartridge guns OLIN CORP 24 Sept 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 41511/74 Heading B4C A cartridge driven fastener inserting tool comprises a spring loaded magazine which feeds the fasteners into a barrel portion 54 where they are acted on by a fastener driving piston 62 the magazine comprising a follower 118 located for movement in a follower cam track 108 and urged by a spring 114 in a clockwise direction as shown in Fig. 3. To load the magazine the follower 118 is moved by a suitable external knob in an anti-clockwise direction to a position where it locks, the fastener belt holding a number of fasteners is then fed in through a hole 124 and subsequently the follower 118 is released and the fasteners are urged thereby towards a slot which exits into the barrel 54. During operation of the tool the fasteners are forced from the belt. When the gun is pressed against a workpiece the barrel moves rearwardly and a cocking slide 34 moves back to position a spring loaded pin 30 in the firing pin 24 above a pin 44 in the trigger. Movement of the firing pin under the action of spring 28 fires the cartridge which moves the hammer piston 62 against the fastener. The outer barrel member of the barrel is held in place by a spring clip 84 as shown in Fig. 6 and the fasteners 198 are located in pockets 192 in belt 190 as shown in Fig. 10.
