1418724 Cartridge actuated fastener driving tools GUNNEBO BRUKS AB 15 Jan 1973 [4 April 1972] 2011/73 Heading B4C The cartridge magazine in a fastener driving tool comprises a storage means for cartridges and a feed channel which is movable from an operative position to permit a cartridge to be fed into the cartridge chamber to a non- operative position clear of the cartridge chamber to permit firing and discharge of the spent cartridge. As shown in Fig. 1, the cartridges 2 are held in a tubular magazine 4 which is filled through a removable screwcap 14. A cartridge is loaded into the chamber 3 by gravity after the barrel 7 has been pulled out to the position shown and inclined downwards at the same time as the magazine is rocked by hand about a pivot 11 against the action of a spring 13 from the raised non-operative position shown in broken lines. The cartridges may be stored instead in a rotary cylinder 17, Fig. 2. In another embodiment, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the cartridges are stored in a rotary magazine cylinder (22) mounted at the side of the tool in a bracket (23) which permits the magazine to be pivoted against the action of a spring (25) into its operative position where a cartridge can be loaded directly into the chamber (3) under gravity when the tool is inclined downwardly. In a further embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), a tube similar to that of Fig. 1 is employed. The open end of the tube is covered by a leaf spring (31) which is held in an inoperative position during the movement of the tube into its loading position. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), a rotary magazine cylinder (17) is mounted in a fixed position on the tool and feeds a tube (20) which can be pivoted about a pin (37) against the action of a spring (39) into the loading position. In the embodiments the cartridges may be pushed along the tube by a spring. Fasteners to be fired are inserted into the mouthpiece 16 of the tool.
