Abstract

1336011 Dyeable regenerated cellulose filaments COURTAULDS Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 March 1970] 14177/70 Heading C3F Regenerated cellulose filaments having an improved affinity for basic dyes incorporate sodium sulphomethyl cellulose. They may be made by dissolving sodium sulphomethyl cellulose in aqueous caustic soda solution, mixing the solution with a viscose solution and then spinning the mixed solution into a sulphuric acid coagulating bath to form filaments. Preferably the sodium sulphomethyl cellulose is incorporated in an amount of 5% by weight based on the weight of regenerated cellulose, and the aqueous caustic soda solution is a 76% by weight solution. The filaments may be dyed with a basic dye such as Astrazone golden yellow GL or Novacryl blue 9.
