Abstract

1,262,300. Dyeing cellulose/polyacrylonitrile mixtures. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 8 Oct., 1969 [8 Oct., 1968], No. 49534/69. Heading D1B. Mixtures of cellulose and polyacrylonitrile fibres are dyed by first treating at 20‹C to 80‹C in an aqueous bath containing a reactive dye, alkali and a non-ionic dispersing agent and then after adding free acid and a cationic dye the dyeing is completed in an acidic medium at a temperature of 95‹C to 130‹C. The treatment with the reactive dye is preferably effected at pH 9 to 12 and that with the cationic dye at pH 3.5 to 6. Preferably reactive dyes containing a vinyl sulphone group or a group which forms a vinyl sulphone group in alkali are used.
