Abstract

1333749 Safety closures Z K RUMBLE 17 Aug 1971 [20 Aug 1970 10 Nov 1970 1 Feb 1971] 40079/70 53460/70 and 3634/71 Heading B8T A safety cap 30 and container 35, Figs. 8, 9, each carry a ring of projections 32, 36, respectively, of unequal length and spaced apart by unequal circumferential distances so that in one relative position the projections on one correspond to and may be passed through the spaces on the other to fit the cap, the cap being retained by rotating it to engage its projections behind those of the container. A movable locking ring 37 having projections 39 corresponding to those of the container may be rotatably mounted between the fixed ring of projections 36 and a shoulder 38, the projections 32 on the cap then engaging both projections 36 and 39 to prevent removal unless cap, container and locking ring 37 are correctly aligned with the aid of reference marks. The projections 36 may extend down to an annular groove 21, Fig. 2, engaged by projections 18 on the ribbed cap 10 which are chamfered at 23 so that the cap may be snapped on when out of alignment. The cap may have a tear strip (Fig. 7, not shown) engaging a second annular groove (26). In another embodiment, Fig. 13, a cap 55 having a dependent skirt 58 engaging within the mouth of the container 50 has unevenly spaced projections 57 which form a broken screw-thread to engage thread 52 on the bottle neck after passing between projections 54.
