Abstract

1332842 Stabilizing photographic images FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 10 June 1971 [10 June 1970] 19945/71 Heading G2C A stabilizer for photographic silver halide materials comprises an acidic aqueous solution containing ammonium thiocyanate, an aluminium compound, a sulphite, bisulphite or metabisulphite, and an aliphatic aldehyde and/or aliphatic ketone having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The aldehyde may be formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, glyoscal or glutaraldehyde. The ketone may be acetone or methylethyl ketone. The sulphite component may be sodium sulphite, sodium bisulphite, potassium sulphite, potassium metabisulphite or ammonium sulphite. The aluminium compound may be potassium alum, aluminium sulphate or aluminium chloride. The solution may also contain a tartrate, e.g. sodium tartrate, potassium tartrate or sodium potassium tartrate. A heterocyclic mercapto compound may also be present e.g. 2- mercaptoimidazole, 2-mercapto-benzimidazole, 2-mercaptobenzotriazole, 2-amino-5 mercapto- 1,3,4-thiadiazole or 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole.
