Abstract
1332215 Tumbling G B WHALES 16 Aug 1972 [16 May 1971] 9662/71 Heading B3D A machine for de-burring metal articles, such as wire clips, comprises one or more wooden tumbling chambers 1 located on a single shaft 2, the or each chamber having a closable opening 5 in its side through which it can be loaded and unloaded, one or more mesh screens 6 arranged to receive articles from the or each tumbling chamber when the or each opening is open, means for vibrating the or each screen and means 3, 4 for rotating the or each tumbling chamber. As described, the machine has two hexagonal wooden tumbling chambers 1 mounted on a shaft 2 driven by a chain 3 from a gear 4 and electric motor. Each chamber has a door 5 with guide-release fastenings. A screen 6 is disposed beneath each chamber and surrounded by walls 8, one of which has a normally closed opening which can be connected to a discharge shoot. The screens are vibrated by an electric motor 7 and beneath each screen is a hopper 9 or bag. The articles are tumbled in the presence of sawdust, and after tumbling are separated from the sawdust by the screens 6.
