Abstract
1,119,154. Jaw crushers. KENNECOTT COPPER CORP. 20 May, 1966 [24 May, 1965], No. 22695/66. Heading B2A. The open ends of the crushing chamber C, Fig. 4. of a jaw crusher are aligned with the jaws which are mounted on non-horizontal axis so that material can discharge via a screen arranged across the bottom under the influence of gravity. The jaws 11, 12 and a feed hopper 13, Fig. 3 are mounted on a frame 14, and the jaws which are driven by eccentrics 15, 16 on shafts 17, 18 by pulleys, a belt, chain, sprockets and a motor 30, Fig. 1 are mounted on toggles 24 and supported by springs 27. In operation, material is charged in the spring-suspended hopper 13 which is reciprocated together with its extensions 41, 44 by a belt, pulleys crank, drive rod 55 and a motor 50, and is passed, as though on a shaker conveyor, via an opening 40 on to the platform extension 41 which may have a sieve or grizzly. Small material falls via a chute 43, or directly, on, to a conveyor. A stepped platform 44a .. d forms the longitudinal bottom opening of the crushing chamber. The extension 44 may have different contours; the crushing jaws may be driven by separate motors; a fixed hopper may be used with the material carried by a conveyor into and through the crushing chamber; and the bottom of the feed hopper may be perforated. A pair of movable jaws may also be arranged to cooperate with a central fixed jaw.
