Abstract

1331097 Pressurized dispensing container valves PITTWAY CORP 20 Oct 1970 [20 Oct 1969] 49731/70 Heading F1R A valve for a pressurized dispensing container having stem 18 movable through a sealing gasket 14 in a valve body 16, is cleaned on valve actuation to an intermediate position by discharge of propellant vapour through an opening 20, prior and subsequent to discharge of product. Movement of the stem 18 to its lowermost position causes opening 20 to be closed by valve seat 26 and the product is then discharged through dip tube 24, orifice 36 and discharge passageway 34. In another embodiment Fig. 5, the stem within valve body 16 comprises an elongated annular rim 44 co-operating with gasket 14 and by means of a plurality of conical projections 45, with propellant parts 40 in the lower valve body, on depression of the stem, the product flows through central opening 42, discharge port 48 and discharge orifice 46. In a modification, Fig.7 (not shown) the valve stem may be separable into an upper (52) and lower portion (44) or in Fig.8 (not shown) a tiltable valve stem (58) may be provided which cooperates with a cavity (59) having a sweep through groove (61). Also in Fig.9 (not shown) a propellant opening (66) comprises an aperture having an enlargement (68) which a serrated valve stem (65) seats. A similar construction is used in Fig.10 (not shown), there being a larger opening (86) without an enlargement; the stem being hollow for discharge of product from dip tube 82, port 84 and discharge orifice 90. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1212724.
