Abstract
1330220 Cartridge actuated pin driving tool RAPID BEFESTIGUNG-STECHNIK GmbH & CO KG 8 Oct 1971 [10 Oct 1970] 46893/71 Heading B4C A pin driving tool for use with a cartridge magazine which consists of a strip of material 1 holding propellant cartridges 3 each in an aperture 2 that has at least one enlargement 2b, comprises a cartridge back stop 8, and a barrel 11 movable towards the back stop against the bias of a spring (not shown), the end of the barrel nearest the back stop having a projection 15 for extending into an enlargement to act as an abutment for a cartridge rim 3a when the cartridge is fired. The magazine strip is preferably of a synthetic plastics material. The firing pin 10 is cocked by rearward movement of the barrel and when cocked is released by actuation of a trigger. Abutment surfaces on the barrel and the tool housing prevent the barrel moving rearwardly beyond the position of Fig. 3, so as to prevent accidental firing of a cartridge by impact against the back stop. When in the Fig. 3 position the projections 15 may engage the cartridge rim, as shown, or may be spaced therefrom by several (e.g. 2-10) hundredths of a millimeter, and in the latter case the cartridge rim abuts the projections when the firing pin strikes the cartridge.
