Abstract

1,227,935. Cartridge actuated fastener driving tools. HILTI A.G. 17 Jan., 1969 [9 Sept., 1968], No. 2769/69. Heading B4C. In a cartridge actuated fastener driving tool comprising a barrel 2 slidable in housing 1, and a magazine 17, magazine advance is effected by a spring biased rocking lever 18 which is rocked upon a reciprocation of the barrel. The magazine comprises notches 17b which are of less longitudinal dimension than the height of the end 18a of the lever. When the barrel is moved outwardly of the housing the lever will be pivoted under action of spring 20 so that the end 18a will abut stop surface 16a<SP>1</SP>, and return of the barrel will pivot the lever anticlockwise and the end 18a of the lever will engage with a projection 17a of the magazine and advance the magazine by one step. A spring 21 engages in notches 17B to prevent movement of the magazine upon clockwise pivoting of the lever. An aperture 18c in the lever for receiving a pin 19 is of a size to permit the plane of the lever to be at an angle of other than 90 degrees with respect to the axis of the pin. When the tool is pushed against a work surface a member 9 attached to the barrel forces a sleeve 10 and firing pin 7 against springs 8a, 8b to position nose 12a of a bolt 12 adjacent one end 13a of a lever 13. When the trigger 15 is pressed the lever 13 is pivoted and bolt 12 is moved to release pin 7. In a modified tool the piston 4 is omitted.
