Abstract
1329525 Ventilating I. C. engine crank chambers; treating charge GENERAL MOTORS CORP 2 March 1972 [9 April 1971] 9768/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] In a crank-case ventilation valve 36 a valve member 54 controls flow through the passage 44 in response to the pressure differential across the member and a bi-metallic valve element 70 also controls flow through the passage, the element moving to a position preventing flow through the passage below a predetermined temperature e.g. 110 F, and above the predetermined temperature snapping to the opposite curvature, Fig. 3 (not shown), to permit substantially unrestricted flow to the valve member. The valve 36 is mounted in an engine rocker cover 34 and connected by a conduit 32 to the inlet manifold (26), Fig. 1 (not shown). Another rocker cover (38), Fig. 1 (not shown) is connected by a fitting (41) and conduit (40) to the inlet air cleaner (30).
