Abstract

1327498 Electrically heated mantles LE MATERIEL SCIENTIFIQUE MODERNE 28 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 30110/71 Heading H5H A mantle 1, for heating flasks, reactors, funnels, feeding bottles, basins, &c., is provided with a non-magnetic sheet metal member 3 or a metal block 3. Fig. 2 (not shown), interposed between the insulated heating resistors 5 and the recipient of the heat (not shown). An insulating fabric 7 of asbestos prevents the hot metal 3 from touching the heated recipient, e.g. a glass flask. The resistors 5 are sewn into an asbestos sheet 6 or cast in the metal block, Fig. 2 (not shown). The block includes a refrigeration circuit also. Temperature regulation is provided, e.g. by a thermocouple 9, Fig. 2, (not shown). The mantle insulation 2 is glass wool. The metal block and insulating fabric assembly may be obtained by pulverizing the metal on a bed of fabric and embedding the resistors therein during the pulverization.
