Abstract

1428555 Induction heating MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 27 April 1973 [17 May 1972 5 Oct 1972 21 Nov 1972] 20279/73 Heading H5H In an induction heater for heating a cooking pot 4 comprising an inductor 2 in a body 1, a non-magnetic metal plate having an electrical resistivity of at least 60 Á#-cm. forms the coverplate 3 of the body on which a cooking pot can stand. The metal plate is preferably of stainless steel and may be separated from the inductor by an air gap or by heat insulating material such as polytetrafluoroethylene, glass wool or asbestos, the thickness of the metal plate over the inductor being less than elsewhere. The plate may be a compound plate of two sheets of stainless steel welded together. Further it may have grooves of various sectional configurations, Figs. 5 to 11, not shown, formed in it to absorb changes in shape and size due to thermal expansion. The grooves may be arranged in different configurations in plan about the central part of the plate, Figs. 12 to 15, not shown, projections on the bottom of the cooking pot can be arranged to fit in these grooves to stabilize the position of the pot when it is resting on the metal plate.
