Abstract

1418819 Hot plate stoves POLARIS FABRIKKER AS 12 Nov 1973 [13 Nov 1972] 52470/73 Heading H5H [Also in Division F4] A heating appliance comprises a plate 1 having a heated zone 9 separated from a cool zone 10 by a gap or recess 4 which restricts lateral heat losses to a thin bridge 11, the gap or recess having a width of 5-100 mm., bridge 11 having a thickness of 0À1-2À0 mm. and a heat conductivity factor of 50 Kcal/metre/hour/‹ C. and being shaped so that differences in thermal expansion between hot and cold zones cause shifting of the hot zone in a direction normal to the plane of the cold zone. The plate is of ductile material and may comprise a sandwich of copper or aluminium between stainless steel sheets, as shown, or the lower sheet may be absent (Fig. 2, not shown) or the plate may comprise a stainless steel sheet (Fig. 3, not shown). Insulation 7 and radiation shield 8 reduce heat waste. Thermostats 6, 12 control the temperatures of heated and cool zones respectively. The heat source may be an electric heating element 5.
