Abstract

1326135 Tamper-proof closures V WASSILIEFF 19 April 1971 [11 Feb 1970] 21532/71 Heading B8T In tamper-proof plastics closure, an outer skirt 3, which is connected to a screw cap 1 or a push-on cap by frangible filaments 10, has to be removed prior to the removal of the cap. The closure is applied to a container by abutting faces 5 and 9, initial removal requiring the successive breaking of the filaments 10. In modifications, the filaments may be radially disposed, breaking simultaneously, or the projections 4, 8 may be replaced by tooth-shaped projections. Further, when a container having an external screw-thread above an external ring is used, the screw-thread of the closure may terminate at its lower end in a tapered portion thereby facilitating locking. In a further embodiment, the closure comprises a snap-on cap, axial ribs being attached to a step in the outer skirt along their upper, radial, surfaces, and to the inner skirt along their axial lengths. Closure removal requires the initial severing of the ribs along their radial surfaces allowing removal of the outer skirt. In a modification, (Fig. 9), prior to closure application the skirt 25 is rotated in the direction of the arrow S thereby placing projections 27 above projections 29, projections 28, 30 then being in contact. During push-on closure application projections 27 push on projections 29. Closure removal requires the initial removal of the skirt 25 by the severance of the filaments 31.
