Abstract
1324643 Anti-dazzle rear view mirrors JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 5 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 53457/69 Heading B7J In a rear view mirror, for a road vehicle, which may be adjusted to avoid dazzling the driver of the vehicle, a reflective member 12 having a silvered, first reflective surface 13 and a polished, second partially reflective surface 14, is secured to a first limb 15a of a carrier member 15, a second limb 15b, angularly movable with respect to the first limb, being formed with a socket 16 by means of which the mirror may be mounted on the vehicle; the arrangement being such that in use, the reflective member may be moved, by relative angular movement of the limbs 15a, 15b between a first position in which light is reflected from the first reflective surface towards the driver and a second position in which light is reflected from the second reflective surface to the driver, so that the driver sees, in the second position, a dim image in the mirror. Two fingers 21 protruding from the limb 15a each have a rib 23 and a shoulder 24, which define the first and second positions of the limb 15b, which itself has a edge 22 interlocking with the ribs 23. Movement between the first and second positions is effected by flexing a blade 19, integral with the limb 15a, which moves the fingers 21. In a second embodiment (Figs. 3 and 4) the first and second limbs 15a, 15b are not integrally formed but are hinged together.
