Abstract

1449337 Vehicle headlamps CIBIE PROJECTEURS 21 Feb 1974 [11 April 1973] 7909/74 Heading F4R A vehicle headlamp comprises a first light source (not shown) associated with a main reflector 14, a second light source 24 associated with a secondary reflector 20 disposed within the main reflector and mounted to pivot about a vertical axis V relative to the main reflector, and a transmission mechanism 56 which permits remote control of the pivoting of the secondary reflector. The main and secondary reflectors produce the dipped and main beams, respectively, and the transmission mechanism comprises a cable or rod 58 connected to a manual control or to the steering gear of the vehicle. The secondary reflector 20 carries a central pivot 28, which projects through an aperture 54 in a bearing element 48 and through an aperture 32 in the main reflector 14 and is retained in position by a resilient member 36, and a pair of bosses 46 which extend into hollow projections 52 on the bearing element 48, the projections being in sliding engagement with the bottom web 34 of the main reflector. The cable or rod 58 is connected to the bearing element 48 and moves the reflector 20 against the force of a return spring 62. The reflector 20 may be tilted slightly relative to the bearing element 48 by means of a screwthreaded link of adjustable length.
