1463313 Vehicle headlamps LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 16 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 25248/73 Heading F4R A vehicle headlamp assembly comprises an ellipsoidal reflector 1, optical projection means such as a lens 2 spaced from the reflector, and one or more further reflectors 3, 4 disposed between the ellipsoidal reflector and the projection means, the or each further reflector being laterally offset from the optical axis of the ellipsoidal reflector and being curved both longitudinally and transversely of said axis so that light issuing from the front opening 6 of the reflector and falling on the or each further reflector is reflected through the projection means and emerges at a greater angle than direct light from the reflector 1, whereby the horizontal spread of light is increased. A mask 5 modifies the light pattern. The lens 2 may be replaced by a parabolic mirror the axis of which forms an acute angle with the axis of the reflector 1.
