1,274,210. Rear view mirrors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 25 Sept., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 48525/68. Heading B7J. An anti-dazzle vehicle rear view mirror has an adjustable reflective element 16 which includes a pair of reflective surfaces arranged at an angle to each other, the first reflecting surface being defined by a transparent synthetic resin moulding 22 having a peripheral flange 23 provided at its free edge with a rib 24, which flange and rib are adapted to receive as a snap fit a reflective plane glass. member 25 defining a second reflecting surface, the two reflective surfaces having different coefficients of reflection. An openended moulded synthetic resin housing 14 is closed by the reflective element 16 and is pivotally connected at 15 to a mounting plate 13, which can be adjustably secured relative to a bracket 11 by a lockable ball-and-socket connection 12. A lever 18 passes through an aperture 17 in the housing 14 and is also pivoted to the latter, the lever 18 having a resilient stressable portion 19 engaging in a notch 21 in the plate 13, the said portion 19 allowing the housing 14 to be pivoted by the lever 18 relative to the plate 13 so as to move the reflective element 16 between two stable positions disposed one on each side of a plane passing through the axes of the pivot 15 and of the pivot of the lever 18.
