1322072 Granulating metals DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [ 24 Feb 1970] 8822/70 Heading C7X In a process for obtaining metal particles in which a stream of molten metal is atomized into droplets by one or more gas jets impinging thereon, the droplets pass into a cooling liquid 7 surrounding but spaced from, the source of the droplets. This may be achieved by rotation of the drum 3 contain taining the liquid 7. In an embodiment, Fig. 3(not shown) the drum is of inverted frusto-conical form, the cooling liquid being supplied through an opening (6) in the bottom of the drum and spilling over the upper edge (8) of the drum when the latter is rotated. The solidified metal particles may be carried over said upper edge by the cooling liquid. The drum may be rotated by an external power source or by introducing the cooling liquid into the drum in a tangential manner so that the liquid imports a rotational movement to the drum.
