Abstract

1,165,794. Granulating metals. REYNOLDS METALS CO. April 4, 1967 [April 4, 1966, No. 15444/67. Heading C7X. Aluminium or an aluminium-silicon alloy is granulated by feeding the molten metal from a funnel 23 into a rotating pot 30 from which it is thrown by centrifugal force through holes 32 into a cooling bath containing a detergent. Impeller tabs 38 on a rotating plate 28 produce a layer 48 of foam through which the molten metal passes. The granules are removed periodically by moving a stopper 62.
