Abstract
1321890 Treating sand INTERNATIONAL MINERALS & CHEMICAL CORP 7 July 1970 [7 July 1969 15 Oct 1969] 32980/70 Addition to 1266606 Heading B3F [Also in Division C3] In a modification of the process for cooling foundry sand disclosed in Specification 1,266,606, which process involves adding cold sand to used hot foundry sand to produce a mixture having a temperature less than 120‹ F., additives are mixed with the hot sand to restore its chemical composition to that before casting. The additives may be clay, carbon or further sand. Tables are given showing suggested additive amounts to be employed when casting ferrous metals (other than steel) using specified sand/ metal weight ratios for the moulds and castings.
