Abstract
1321854 Transformers MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 28 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969 (3) 20 March 1970 (3)] 41595/70 Heading HIT [Also in Division H2] A transformer used to supply the operating voltages of a magnetron comprises a magnetic core 105 having three legs, the primary winding being in two halves 101, 101<SP>1</SP> and arranged on the two outer legs, one secondary winding 102 being arranged on the centre leg and a further secondary winding 103 being arranged on one of the yokes together with magnetic shunts 106 between the primary and secondary windings. Initially the two halves of the primary winding are connected to produce fluxes # 1 , #<SP>1</SP> which are in opposition in the centre leg of the core thus no output voltage is induced in the secondary winding 102 although an output voltage is induced in the secondary winding 103 by the flux # 1 (see Fig. 12). When operation of the magnetron is required the halves 101, 101<SP>1</SP> of the primary winding are connected so as to produce fluxes # 1 , #<SP>1</SP> 1 which aid each other in the centre leg (see Fig. 11). Thus an output voltage is produced in the secondary winding 102, with the flux # 1 still producing an output in the winding 103. The fluxes # 2 , #<SP>1</SP> 2 caused by the load current in the winding 102 flow through the magnetic shunts 106. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 9 the magnetic core is in a cruciform shape with all the windings on the centre leg with the secondary winding 102 in two series connected halves, one on each side of the leg dividing the centre leg. If desired a further secondary winding may be placed on the centre leg and this winding may, if desired be an extension of the secondary winding 102.
