1321442 Wagon doors RHEINSTAHL AG 25 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 40880/70 Heading B7L [Also in Division E2] A covered goods wagon has sliding walls or doors 1 lying in a single plane in the closed state. The walls or doors 1 are movable transversely to to the side of the wagon in order to mount a guide roller 10 on to a corresponding supporting rail 11 at each side wall 1 in order to slide the door open substantially in its own plane and for dismounting each roller 10 from its respective rail 11 after a sliding closing movement of the wall or door. The forward edge of the wall or door 1 is supported during the mounting and dismounting movements by a pivotable plate 4 which is rigidly fixed to a vertical shaft 3a rotatable about its axis so as to cause the transverse movement of the forward edge of the wall or door. The wall or door 1 and the plate 4 have co-operating convex and concave substantially spherical surfaces in the form of a roller 5 and a socket 4a respectively. The convex and concave surfaces support the forward edge of the wall or door 1 via roller 5 at a point on the plate 4 which is non-coincident with the axis thereof. The wall or door 1 carries, adjacent the forward edge, a lever which is pivotable about a pin 13 whose axis is perpendicular to the plane of the wall or door. The lever has a downwardly extending arm 6 engageable with the plate 4, operation of the lever using the engagement with the plate as a fulcrum causing the initial part of the sliding opening movement of the wall or door. The plate 4 also includes a part-cylindrical channel 4d which communicates with the socket 4a and a lip 4e which forms the fulcrum, against which lip 4e, the lever arm 6 abuts in order to push the roller 5 from the socket 4a into the channel 4d during the initial opening sliding movement of the door. In a further embodiment described with reference to Fig. 6, the socket 4a forms the concave surface and the end of the lever arm 6 carries a supporting roller 9 or 9a forming the convex surface and is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the wall or door, the socket 6b acting as the fulcrum whilst the roller 9 or 9a rests therein and the lever pivots about the rotational axis of the roller, the roller then rolling into the channel 6a. The roller 9 or 9a may be replaced by a partspherical convex surface 9 or 9b, integrally formed with the plate 4 so as to act as the fulcrum.
