Abstract

1321003 Pressure spray phosphatizing GERHARD COLLARDIN GmbH 7 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 13792/71 Heading C7U An iron or steel surface is phosphatized by spraying with an acid coating phosphate solution at a spray pressure of 10 to 100 atmospheres gauge. The solution used is conventional and may contain Zn and/or Ca orthophosphate, polyvalent metal ions, e.g. Mg, Mn, Cd, Co, Ni, and/or Pb, and an accelerator, e.g. NO 2 <SP>-</SP>, NO 3 <SP>-</SP>, ClO 3 <SP>-</SP>, BO 3 <SP>-</SP>, H 2 O 2 , NO 2 <SP>-</SP>/NO 3 <SP>-</SP>, NO 2 <SP>-</SP>/ClO<SP>-</SP> 3 or NO 3 <SP>-</SP>/BO 3 <SP>-</SP>, and if the solution is used to clean and phosphatize simultaneously, 0À1-5g/l of non-ionic wetting agent is added, e.g. reaction products of ethylene oxide with fatty alcohols, alkylphenols, fatty amines or polyhydroxypropylene glycols. Preferred solution temperatures and pressures are 40-75‹C. and 30-50 atmospheres gauge.
